Mosbach is always worth a visit. The town with its population of 25,000 is the the cultural and economic centre of the Neckar-Odenwald region. It is located at the southern tip of the Odenwald area on the river Neckar in an attractive setting between the busy hubs of Heidelberg/Mannheim and Heilbronn/Stuttgart.
Mosbach’s historic city centre boasts some of the most picturesque half-timbered house façades in Southern Germany: most of the half-timbered houses were built in the 15th and 16th century. The old 16th century city hall and the Stiftskirche of 1390 are the most spectacular parts of Mosbach’s medieval townscape. (The Stiftskirche is used by both Catholics and Protestants since 1708.) Some buildings’ façades, such as the Palm’sche Haus – one of the most famous half-timbered houses in Southern Germany – give testimony of the 750 year long history of Mosbach.
In 1997, the Baden-Württemberg State Garden Show took place in Mosbach. The event attracted some 700,000 people and it gave Mosbach spacious garden areas which are free to enjoy by everyone. The former Garden Show Park is within walking distance of our hotel.
In the summer time, Mosbach’s atmosphere resembles those of mediterranean cities: many cafés and small shops attract visitors and locals.
Our hotel and restaurant is located in the old city centre and is an ideal base for sightseeing tours in Mosbach and in the Neckar-Odenwald region.
